Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is an important issue for self-managing health delivery. In addition, older persons with MCI can be on a spectrum that extends from cognitive deficit without difficulty performing daily activities to severe impairment (e.g., Alzheimer, Dementia).

This condition has particularly important for caregiving because of its impact on self-care and quality of life, which require the highest cognitive skills, for instance, medication adherence or other medical therapeutic (e.g., diet, cognitive and physical exercises).

Thereby, a group of SHAPES partners is deploying a pilot study to evaluate the use of eHealthPassTM to improve the activities of self-care that require higher cognitive skills, namely medicine adherence or other clinical therapeutics provided by General Practitioners (GP).

The eHealthPassTM, designed and empowered by GNOMON, is an online platform that integrates and analyses several health parameters provided by the end-users and/or collected by different digital and technical devices, such as smartphone, smart bracelet, smart pillbox. The digital solution is also available in-app and web interface (smartphone, tablet, and computer), and it can be accessed by older persons and their formal and informal caregivers, under legal and ethical regulation.

In the SHAPES pilot study, outcomes such as medication adherence, health and well-being (physical activity, sleep pattern, stress level), health daily needs (falls, hospital emergencies and hospitalizations), and technological usage (usability, acceptance, efficiency) will be measured. Moreover, a self-report will also be screened to assess subjective complaints of memory and autonomy in instrumental activities of daily living and digital skills.

eHealthPassTM will have an important role in the digitalization of several caregiving deliverables, such as: collecting and analysing health data; providing remote and personalized care and support; feeding health alerts based on health data analysed, and assessing the health status by pre-programmed questionnaires.

Using eHealthPassTM older persons and their informal and formal caregivers can easily be interconnected.
